1984
1984 Has been one of many dramatic years in the UK with
events such as the Miner’s Strike which caused economic chaos and the attempted
Assassination of Margret Thatcher which many were killed and injured. Thatcher was involved in a lot of the event's I've researched all showing a negative stance onto her.
Miner’s Strike
The Miner’s Strike is a result of the order of a new
chairman from the National Coal Board Ian MacGregor who caused five pits that
miners mine for coal will be closed off in March, after this was announced
miners began to go on strike in Yorkshire and Scotland.
The strike lasted for a year and resulted in 11,291 arrests and 8,392 of them were charged, hundreds of those in the strikes were permanently fired from mining. Orgreave I have found to be the most brutal conflict of the miners and the police, while some of the strikers condemned a portion of the violence by pushing, shoving and kicking, the police have attacked thousands of the miners who some were not participating acts of violence, even children who were there had been in the way have been assaulted by the police. Total Job losses are 74,281 of Miners and people in related industries.

Brighton Hotel Bombing
On the 12th of October a bomb was planted and set
off in Brighton’s Grand Hotel by Patrick Magee in order to attack and destroy the
Conservative Party with Margret Thatcher on their overnight stay. Thatcher was
at the time Prime Minister of the UK and was also one of the first women of
Britain to become leader of a huge political party.
Known as the Brighton Bomber Patrick Magee is an Irish
Republican part of the Provisional Irish Republican Army who planted the bomb
in his hotel room on the 12th of October.
The IRA have been responsible for many other terrorist considered attacks in the past and after the Brighton Hotel Bombing, they have resulted in the deaths of around 1,800 people which around 650 of them were civilians. Their initiated targets were "British troops, police officers, prison guards, and judges".
In July 1972 they unleashed a bombing spree twenty two bombs
Woman’s Peace Camp
In 1981 the Greenham common Woman’s peace camp with the
intention to stop 96 cruise nuclear missiles at Greenham common. In 1984 more
than 30 people have been arrested and evicted for failure to evacuate by the
given deadline, after the women were removed from the area it was prepared for
construction of the missiles to begin.
